The Struve geodetic arc yielded the first accurate measurement of a meridian. In 2005 it was added to the World Heritage List and 34 commemorative plaques or obelisks were installed marking points on the arc. Latvia had 2 locations and they are seen in the lower left corner and upper right corner of the souvenir sheet.
